Rev Dr Chia Beng Hock & May 

​

Rev Dr Chia Beng Hock happily married to his wife May since 1977, they have two sons and 2 grandchildren. They are both Certified PE Facilitators.

 

Beng Hock served in Bethel Assembly of God since March 1982 and for 22 years as its Senior Pastor before retiring. He is currently the Pastor Emeritus of Bethel Assembly of God and Chairman of Bethel Community Services. He also serves as the Treasurer of The Alliance Of The Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches of Singapore (APCCS), Executive

Committee Member of the Assemblies of God (AG) of Singapore, President of Teen Challenge Singapore, Treasurer of the Global Leadership Summit (GLS) of Singapore, Executive Committee Member of The Bible Society of Singapore, Board Member of Tung Ling Bible School and Vice Chairman of MacPherson Inter-Racial & Religious Harmony Circle (HC).

 

He graduated with Doctor of Ministry and Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Asia Pacific Theological Seminary (APTS) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Theology (Ministry) from the University of Wales. He is also Certified Behavioral Consultant (DISC).

 

May is a State Registered Nurse since 1976. Her passion and desire to impart good nursing knowledge and practices led her to join a local polytechnic as a Nursing Educator since 1996. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education from National Institute of Education (NIE), Postgraduate Diploma of Nursing and Bachelor of Nursing from Edith Cowan University, and a Certificate of Completion of People Analytics from Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). She is also a graduate of School of Ministry (Tung Ling Bible School).

 

Having served in the ministry for more than four decades they understand the challenges that pastors and senior Christian leaders often encountered and needed friends to talk to and walk with them. Beng Hock and May want to invest this phase of their lives to be “friends” (instead of calling “mentors” they prefer to be “friends”) of pastors and Christian leaders, to walk alongside them and help to strengthen their lives, marriages and ministries.

Consulting Psychologist

Dr Amanda Tan PhD, Clinical Psychologist 


Amanda is a practicing psychologist in California, USA. As a parent to three small humans, she has a special interest in helping families build healthy relationships and supporting women in their journey of motherhood. She has had experience working with families in hospital settings and now provides therapy and psychological assessment services in private practice.

Note - Our consulting Psychologist is a volunteer with Bridging Hearts. She provides support to our volunteer Marriage Mentors. No personal particulars of mentee couples will be shared during consultation.

KK Tan-Lee is a Christian counsellor, social work, counselling supervisor, curriculum developer and trainer with more than 24 years of professional people helping and supervision experience in Singapore, China and other parts of Asia.

She holds a Masters of Social Work and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling. She is trained in the Christian Wholeness Framework, EMDR Trauma-Informed Therapy (Level 2), Choice Theory/ Reality Therapy, Satir Counselling, Sandplay Therapy and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. She is also a certified Gottman Seven Principles Educator, SYMBIS couple facilitator, Prepare & Enrich couple facilitator, DISC Accredited Behavioural Analyst and ACTA Trainer.

 

KK has worked in East Asia for a total of 6 years. She has served as a community project manager in HIV/AIDS related projects. She has also served as a counsellor and social work consultant in a counselling center and has had the privilege to minister to different groups of people, including locals and expats. As a clinician, KK has the privilege to journey with Christian leaders and workers, and people from all faith in facing and overcoming mental health and relationship challenges. She had witness  healing from traumas and burnouts to personal breakthrough in their faith and relationships.

As a trainer, KK has designed and conducted more than 21,000 hours of training and workshops for Christian ministers, missionaries, volunteers, social workers, teachers, doctors and nurses in Singapore, China, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and East Timor. Participants range from groups of 3 to 600. She has received good feedback for the engaging and relevant delivery. KK is fluent in both English and Mandarin and speaks good Cantonese and Hokkien. She is able to counsel, train and write effectively in both English and Chinese.

 

For her contribution and work, KK was the recipient of the National Day President’s Commendation Award for Sars and the first cohort to receive Singapore's Highest Skills Award, SkillsFuture Fellowships, in 2017.

Madelin Hiew-Tay, MSc (Professional Counselling).

 

Madelin is a registered counsellor with SAC and Family Life Educator with diverse experience in the social service sector. A firm advocate for strong marriages and families, she conducts marriage preparation and parenting workshops. Married for over 20 years, she is a mother of three, two young adult daughters and a teenage son.

Madelin had helped many couples and individual over the years. She is trained in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT), Gottman Couple Therapy (Level 2), Discernment Counselling, Management of Family Violence, EMDR Institute Training Weekend 1&2, Prepare-Enrich Practitioner, Love Works (Working with Minor Couples Facilitator), Marriage Preparation Support Programme for Trans-National Couples, Marital First Responder Train-the-Trainer, Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP) 8.0 Facilitator, Cert. Torn Asunder Facilitator, Parenting with Confidence Workshop Facilitator, Accredited Trainer for Triple P Level 2-4.
